Filip Karan

Policy Officer

Filip is a public health professional from Croatia specialising in European health policy and governance. He holds two Master’s degrees in Public Health from the University of Sheffield and Maastricht University.

At Digestive Cancers Europe (DiCE), Filip leads the organisation’s policy and advocacy work at the European level. His role focuses on translating scientific evidence and patient priorities into concrete policy proposals that inform EU health policy. He works closely with EU institutions, patient organisations, clinicians and researchers to advance stronger policies on prevention, early detection, treatment innovation and equitable access to high-quality digestive cancer care across Europe.

Before joining DiCE, Filip worked across several parts of the European health policy landscape, including research, NGO advocacy, public affairs and the European Parliament. Most recently, he served as an Accredited Parliamentary Assistant in the European Parliament, where he supported legislative work on public health and engaged with stakeholders across the EU health community. Through these roles, he developed extensive expertise in EU health governance and the regulatory frameworks shaping European health policy.

Outside of work, Filip enjoys travelling and exploring new cultures. He is also passionate about music and singing, and previously performed in a rock band.
