Ana Martins
Medical and Scientific Project Manager
Ana joined DiCE as a Medical and Scientific Project Manager. She hopes to provide scientific information, access to the best resources, and the highest quality digestive cancer care with her multidisciplinary expertise.
After obtaining a B.S. degree in Applied Biology from the University of Minho (Portugal), Ana received her PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the same University in collaboration with Rice University (USA), where she worked in bone tissue engineering.
Afterwards, she earned a Postdoctoral grant from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology to develop a project about the generation of iPS cells, cardiac differentiation, new conductive biomaterials for cardiac tissue engineering, disease modelling, and rare diseases, at the University of Minho and Columbia University.
In 2018, Ana Martins was selected as a Marie Curie MINDED Researcher to join the Italian Institute of Technology, where she has been dedicated to a project involving the use of microfluidic chips and novel therapeutic compounds for cancer therapy and neurodevelopmental disorders.
Outside work, Ana is a passionate, curious, and addicted reader of fiction and biographies. She is also a keen traveller and a fond visitor of museums.
