Ceri Steele
Patient Advisor

My name is Ceri Steele and I am an oesophageal cancer patient, having been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma in October 2019. After chemoradiotherapy, I had to have a total oesophagectomy in August 2020.
As a result of complications after surgery, I have atrial fibrillation and bronchiectasis. Aside from that, I have also have three head injuries, two seizures and two dislocations.
Since completing my cancer treatment, I have been involved in different areas of research, bringing the patient’s voice to a range of studies. I am an expert by experience for Guts UK, I am on the trial management group for a couple of studies, have reviewed several grant applications and patient information sheets, and am co-facilitator for the VOICE course, run by ICPV and Barts hospital.
