Colorectal cancer remains one of Europe’s leading causes of cancer-related deaths — despite the clear evidence that organised screening saves lives. Yet screening uptake across the EU remains uneven, leaving preventable deaths and inequalities unaddressed.

To mark the start of European Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month (ECCAM) 2026, we invite you to join us in person at the European Parliament for a high-level policy event to accelerate colorectal cancer screening across Europe.

Strengthening Colorectal Cancer Screening Across Europe
ECCAM 2026 Launch Event

📍 European Parliament – SPINELLI 3H1
🗓 Thursday, 26 February 2026
10:30–12:30 CET

This in-person event will bring together policymakers, EU institutions, public health leaders, healthcare professionals, and patient organisations to:

  • Reaffirm colorectal cancer screening as a public health priority

  • Present the latest EU recommendations and scientific evidence

  • Share national success stories with high screening participation

  • Discuss future approaches, including risk-based screening

  • Amplify patient voices and officially launch the ECCAM 2026 campaign

With the EU Beating Cancer Plan and Council Recommendations in place, the focus must now shift from policy to implementation. This event is a moment to align political commitment with practical action.

We strongly encourage your participation and look forward to welcoming you at the European Parliament.
