Endoscopic treatment
For some small, very early-stage oesophageal cancers, a procedure called an endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) can be used.
In this technique, a piece of the inner lining of the oesophagus is removed with instruments passed down an endoscope (a long, flexible tube, which is passed down the throat and into the oesophagus).
