Oesophageal Cancer Awareness Month

April is Oesophageal Cancer Awareness Month

Every year an estimated 53.000 people in Europe receive the difficult diagnosis of having oesophageal cancer. A cancer that is both hard to diagnose and treat, sadly approximately 46.000 people lose their lives annually to it.

Oesophageal Cancer Awareness Month – April

In order to bring attention to this lesser-known cancer we are pleased to have begun a concerted awareness campaign during April 2021 that is now an annual part of the Digestive Cancers Europe awareness building calendar.

Oesophageal Cancer Awareness Month 2021 Campaign

In 2021 DiCE launched its campaign to highlight the relevant facts and key information for a better public understanding of this cancer and what is standing in patients’ way of better care and surviving beyond cancer.

DiCE kicked off the month with a Masterclass with patients Daksha and Dave sharing their personal stories and medical experts delving into the latest research. DiCE then led a month-long social media campaign inviting also their Member organisations to share the materials in their countries, translated for national audiences.
