Munich Awaits: Science, Advocacy and Community in Action
As the DiCE community prepares to gather in Munich, excitement is building for the 11th Annual DiCE Masterclass, one of Europe’s leading patient-centred meetings dedicated to digestive cancers.
In just a few days, patient advocates, healthcare professionals, researchers, policymakers, and industry representatives from across Europe and beyond will come together to exchange knowledge, share experiences, and strengthen efforts to improve outcomes for people affected by digestive cancers.
This year’s programme combines the latest scientific developments with patient advocacy, research, and practical learning. Participants will hear expert updates on oesophageal, gastric, liver, pancreatic, and colorectal cancers, explore the opportunities and challenges presented by artificial intelligence in healthcare, and learn more about DiCE’s growing work in policy, research, and early-onset digestive cancers. Sessions will also highlight advocacy initiatives from across Europe, showcase patient-led innovation, and provide opportunities for participants to develop new skills and connections.
The Masterclass will further spotlight the increasingly important role of patients in research. Updates from several EU-funded projects will demonstrate how patient organisations are helping to shape research priorities, contributing to study design, and ensuring that innovation remains grounded in the real needs and experiences of patients and their families.
Alongside the scientific programme, member organisations will gather for the DiCE Annual General Assembly to review progress, discuss future priorities, and help guide the organisation’s strategic direction in the years ahead.
This year’s gathering will also feature the inaugural DiCE Fun Run & Walk in Munich’s Riemer Park. With hundreds of participants already registered, the event has generated tremendous enthusiasm across the community. More than a run or walk, it is an opportunity to raise awareness of digestive cancers, promote healthy lifestyles, and demonstrate solidarity with everyone affected by these diseases.
While the programme offers valuable scientific insights and networking opportunities, the true strength of the Masterclass lies in the community it brings together. It is where new partnerships are formed, ideas are exchanged, and advocates are empowered to drive meaningful change at local, national, and European levels.
We look forward to welcoming everyone to Munich for what promises to be an inspiring, collaborative, and impactful few days.
