DiCE Advocates for Awareness at PANCAID Stakeholder Event

On 15 January 2025, DiCE actively participated in the PANCAID Stakeholder Event at the European Parliament in Brussels, organised by Pancreatic Cancer Europe. Key discussions took place on the early detection of pancreatic cancer. The event brought together patients, advocates, researchers, policymakers, and healthcare professionals to explore new strategies for improving pancreatic cancer diagnosis and care.
Representing DiCE, Ana Martins participated in the “Roundtable: Joint efforts on Early Detection of Pancreatic Cancer”, moderated by Klaus Pantel and Matthias Löhr (coordinators of the PANCAID project). The other participants in the fruitful discussion included Patrick Michl (UEG Austria), Ondřej Dostál (Czech MEP), Jo Etienne Abela (Maltese Minister of Health and Alfredo Carrato (PCE Belgium). Ana Martins emphasised the significant role of patients’ perspectives within EU funding projects and the growing importance of social media in spreading awareness and ensuring that essential information reaches both patients and healthcare professionals. Social media platforms are now powerful tools for education, advocacy, and engagement, helping to bridge the gap between scientific advancements and the wider community.
Throughout the event, personal stories from pancreatic cancer patients reinforced the urgent need for better early detection methods. Experts also shared the latest research developments, while policymakers discussed strategies to improve European healthcare policies related to pancreatic cancer.
By participating in events like this, DiCE continues to support collaboration and innovation in the fight against pancreatic cancer. It ensures that patient voices are heard and awareness efforts are amplified across Europe.
