As a part of a working group, led by the European Alliance for Personalised Medicine (EAPM), DiCE contributed towards a position paper on the future framework of biomarkers in Oncology: ‘Bringing Greater Accuracy to Europe’s Healthcare Systems: The Unexploited Potential of Biomarker Testing in Oncology’

Zorana Maravic, Director of Operations, and Vassiliki Fotaki, Medical and Scientific Project Manager at DiCE contributed to the publication with their views, giving the digestive cancer patient perspective during extensive engagements with experts and decision makers in the field.

Dr Estelle Cauchin (Oncologist, specialised in digestive oncogenetics) and Prof. Jaafar Bennouna (Medical Oncologist, specialised in care and innovation in thoracic and digestive oncology) provided their expert clinical and scientific insight in this work in relation to biomarkers for colorectal cancer. The work led by Denis Horgan, Executive Director of EAPM, has resulted in the open access policy paper.

As per the paper’s abstract: “Rapid and continuing advances in biomarker testing are not being matched by take-up in health systems, and this is hampering both patient care and innovation. It also risks costing health systems the opportunity to make their services more efficient and, over time, more economical.”1
