Digestive Cancers Europe launched its colorectal cancer (CRC) biomarkers project ‘Colorectal cancer: getting personal can be lifesaving’ in September of last year with the goal of producing educational materials for patients on how biomarker testing can help in making better treatment decisions. April brought together seven people from our Member organisations – patients and organisational representatives – for a focus group to gather input and insights on the topic.

The meeting looked into the situation of CRC biomarkers analysis in different European countries and then moved to each participant’s personal experience regarding biomarkers testing. Finally, we discussed the channels and formats for providing patients with information and education on biomarkers and what they expect the role of patient organizations should be.
