Digestive Cancers Europe Responds to the European Commission’s Cancer Mission

Dice commented on the recommendations published by the European Commission’s Cancer Mission Board to ensure that the interests of all digestive cancer patients in Europe are taken into account. DiCE recommendations included:

  • Set up a research prioritisation programme by type of cancer and according to accepted methodology
  • Establish evidence-based best practices by measuring the effect of successful policies on nutrition, tobacco control, alcohol consumption and exercise
  • One of the key suggestions was the creation of a European Platform for Colorectal Cancer Screening Agencies, managed by Digestive Cancers Europe, to ensure that the known best practices are shared and implemented across the EU.

The European Commission research and innovation missions aim to “deliver solutions to some of the greatest challenges facing our world”. They are an integral part of the Horizon Europe framework programme beginning in 2021. If you would like more information please go to the Commission website.
