Patients at the Heart of Innovation: DiCE at the GUIDE.MRD Annual Assembly in Nice

DiCE was pleased to take part in the third Annual General Assembly of the EU-funded GUIDE.MRD consortium, held recently in Nice. Our organisation was represented by Ana Martins, Medical and Scientific Project Manager, and Zorana Maravic, CEO.
This year’s meeting highlighted not only scientific progress but also the essential role of patients in shaping research outcomes. A dedicated session of the Patient Advisory Board (PAB) took place, with Merel Hennink and Stephen Rowley attending as representatives of the entire GUIDE.MRD PAB. The session was co-moderated by Ana Martins alongside Chiara Antoniani from Lung Cancer Europe.
Merel and Stephen offered moving personal perspectives, underlining the real-life relevance of the work being done. They spoke about the importance of early and meaningful patient involvement in research, reinforcing the need for collaboration that goes beyond consultation and is embedded from the beginning of the process.
Their discussion also focused on the future impact of liquid biopsy technologies for Minimal Residual Disease (MRD). This promising approach could play a key role in monitoring and improving outcomes for patients with colorectal, pancreatic and lung cancers.

We are proud to see patients so strongly represented in this innovative project and will continue advocating for their voices to remain central in all research and development efforts.
