SAID NGO (Decree 324/2016 Lebanon) remains a leading advocate for colorectal cancer awareness, prevention, and patient support. In 2025, the organisation expanded its reach through creative campaigns, strong collaborations, and community initiatives focused on early detection and accessible care.

A major highlight was the “March into April” campaign, held under the patronage of the Ministry of Public Health and supported by WHO Lebanon. The centrepiece event—a vibrant Walkathon in Beirut—brought together survivors, families, healthcare professionals, and members of the public to promote screening and reduce stigma. Now an annual tradition, the Walkathon has become a cornerstone of open dialogue about colon health.

The campaign’s success was strengthened by partners providing free colonoscopies, $200-value screening tests, mobile clinics, donations, and logistical support, helping reduce barriers to equitable care.

Throughout the year, SAID NGO conducted educational outreach programmes in schools, universities, and healthcare institutions, focusing on the growing concern of early-onset colorectal cancer. These sessions equip both the public and medical professionals with the knowledge to act early—especially for individuals under 45.

To sustain and expand its work, the organisation hosted two fundraising theatrical performances in 2025 featuring renowned Lebanese actors Joe Kodeih and Hanane Hajj Ali. The proceeds directly support awareness initiatives, screening access, and patient assistance. In addition, DiCE’s unrestricted operational grants, awarded twice yearly, continue to strengthen SAID NGO’s ongoing projects.

Behind the scenes, the organisation collaborates with national health leaders to develop a pilot colorectal screening programme in Zahle, supported by Lebanese gastroenterologists in the diaspora. This initiative aligns with Lebanon’s National Cancer Plan, marking a key step towards a structured and sustainable screening system.

SAID NGO’s digital presence also continues to grow, with thousands engaging through Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and X—platforms where educational materials, survivor stories, and campaign updates inspire nationwide participation.

Looking ahead, SAID NGO will join the GI Oncology MENA Region Summit (31 October–1 November 2025) as a collaborator invited by Dr Hampig Kourieh, contributing to regional discussions on gastrointestinal cancer policy and prevention.
