Start Moving, Stay Moving: Your Path to the Fun Run 2026
As we approach the Fun Run & Walk 2026, happening on 3 July 2026 in Munich, Digestive Cancers Europe (DiCE) and Outdoor Against Cancer (OAC) organised two webinars to help you get started with physical exercise and join us on the journey towards the Fun Run.
For many people, engaging in physical activity can feel distant or difficult. Fluctuating energy and low motivation often hinder starting. Two recent Lunch & Learn webinars, co-organised by DiCE and OAC, address these common barriers and offer practical solutions.
Whether you’re in healthcare, living with or beyond cancer, advocating for others, or simply aiming to develop healthier habits, you’re invited to join us in moving and learning.
Webinar N 1: “How Movement Supports Health, Prevention & Recovery”
The first in the series concentrates on where to begin and why physical activity is beneficial for overall well-being. It provided a brief, active break with light, guided exercises and clear explanations of how physical activity promotes health, reduces cancer risk, and supports recovery.
It offers a clear, practical message: you can restart your physical activity in just 30 minutes. This isn’t about reaching a fitness goal but about creating a moment to reconnect with movement.
The concept is simple yet powerful: instead of waiting for the ‘perfect time” or ‘peak energy,” carve out a brief period to move, whether it’s walking, light jogging, or stretching. For many, this mental shift is essential, turning physical activity from a long-term duty into something immediate and accessible for everyone.
Webinar N 2: “Just Getting Started? How to motivate yourself to run”
The second one expands on this by taking a more grounded approach to maintaining your motivation to stay active, rather than offering quick fixes. It views motivation not as something you either have or lack but as something that develops gradually. The main goal is to lower the barrier to entry.
It emphasises creating a routine tailored to each person’s circumstances rather than pushing the body into a rigid plan. By prioritising consistency over intensity, the video promotes a healthier, more sustainable relationship with movement.
These videos are thought to help and motivate people to join our community run that we are organising this summer.
On 3 July 2026, the Fun Run & Walk in Munich will bring together patients, healthcare professionals, families, and supporters for a non-competitive 3K walk and 5K run. While the event itself is a celebration, the real challenge for many participants lies in the weeks and months leading up to it.
This series of webinars is designed to support the initial steps of the journey, including how to start, restart, and maintain progress in a practical way, regardless of your fitness or training level. They acknowledge that physical activity isn’t one-size-fits-all. Instead, it is personalised, flexible, and deeply connected to overall wellbeing.
Stay tuned, as we will have one last webinar to close the series.
