New Patient-Led Survey Explores What Meaningful Cancer Support Really Looks Like
What does meaningful support look like when living with cancer? While medical treatment remains essential, the words, actions, and attitudes of those around us can profoundly affect a person’s experience throughout their cancer journey.
To better understand these experiences, patient advocate Rohini Singh Sisodia has launched a patient-led community survey titled “Beyond the Diagnosis: How People Living with Cancer Want to Be Cared for and Supported.”
The survey explores how people affected by cancer experience support during and after treatment, including communication with family, friends, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and their wider communities. It also seeks to identify which forms of support feel most helpful and which responses may unintentionally cause distress.
The insights gathered will contribute to the development of a patient-centred support guide designed to help:
- People living with cancer communicate their needs more effectively
- Families and friends provide meaningful and compassionate support
- Healthcare professionals better understand the emotional impact of language and communication
- Communities respond with greater empathy and sensitivity
By sharing their experiences, participants can help shape practical resources that place patient voices at the centre of cancer care and support.
The survey takes approximately 5 to 7 minutes to complete.
We encourage members of the DiCE community to participate and share the survey within their networks to help ensure a diverse range of patient experiences are represented.
