Contributing to the European Commission Council Recommendations on Cancer Screening

It has been officially announced that in 2022, the European Commission (EC) will make a proposal to update the 2003 Council Recommendation on cancer screening to ensure that the EU guidelines are up to date with the latest available scientific evidence. The EC aims to consider the extension of cancer screening beyond breast, cervical and colorectal cancer (CRC) to include prostate, lung and gastric cancers. Other cancers might also be included depending on supporting scientific evidence.

As stated by the EC, this proposal should be adopted no later than February 2022. DiCE will closely monitor the progress of this action. On November 30 at our second edition of the CRC Screening Summit, we will start to explore in more detail the needs of the digestive cancers community across Europe in order to feed into this EC Recommendation. The Summit will include discussions with experts and policy makers on the issues CRC patients in the European region are facing. You are invited to register for the 2nd CRC Screening Summit or contact us for more information.
