Leading up to October’s Liver Cancer Awareness month, DiCE attended the ILCA Annual Conference, an impactful scientific forum in the liver cancer field connecting hundreds of international participants across all related disciplines to exchange their knowledge and best practices with presentations, symposia, workshops and networking sessions.

This year’s conference saw the debut of the ILCA Patient Advocacy Board, a group of multidisciplinary experts in the field of liver cancer with the common goal of working to improve the situation for liver cancer patients and carers.

As an expert member of the ILCA Patient Advocacy Board DiCE’s CEO Zorana Maravic was invited to participate as a panellist during the Patient Advocacy Session’s launch of the joint manuscript What to do about Hepatocellular Carcinoma: Recommendations for Health Authorities: An International Liver Cancer Association Advocacy Document, with key contributions from DiCE.

Speaking on behalf of patient organisations, alongside Marko Korenjak of ELPA, Zorana emphasized the need for more research to improve the outcomes for liver cancer patients and called for a strong commitment of support and funding from Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan. Using her platform, she encouraged the researchers and clinicians in attendance to join us at the European Parliament event for Liver Cancer.
